Greetings ~

Horses and dogs probably have played the largest part in wartime. But other animals such as mules, elephants, birds, cats and even mice have been inlisted to do jobs that human simply could not.

The civil war could not have taken place without the aide of horses to pull everything from wagons, limbers, cannons, not to mention carry officers and troops. Horses were a big part of World War I as the trucks of the day were unable to go some places as there were no roads and the wet ground was much too mucky for tires. Elephants in Africa and India were the tools for moving heavy objects. Birds were used to detect gases and other deadly chemicals. The list goes on and on.

There is no dought that animals were a very important part of war. Most do not get their dues for what they did. This blog tries to showcase the contributions that animals gave to help us win the wars from the Revolution to the modern day Middle East wars.

This blog is dedicated to these furry warriors.
